Residential Program

L’Arche has four homes, all in the City of Syracuse. People with and without intellectual disabilities live and share life together in the homes. Four core members live in each home for a total of 16 core members living in L’Arche. The homes also have the capacity for between one to four Assistants to live in each home.

The NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) licensed each home as an Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA). This means that each is a certified community-based residential setting that provides room, board, and individualized support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (core members). Our staff supervises the homes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

L’Arche Syracuse owns all four homes. AccessCNY has the OPWDD licenses for the homes and contracts with L’Arche to provide services to the core members.

L’Arche’s philosophy of family and community means we seek to offer lifelong homes to the individual core members, rooted in a felt sense of welcome and belonging. As core members age, we invest in the resources needed for them to remain in the homes and continue the friendships they love.
